Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Cyber Hockey ("the game", "we", "us") is a free air hockey game you play in your web browser. This policy explains what data the game uses, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect little: there are no accounts, and we never ask for your email address or real name.
1. What is stored in your browser
The game saves a few things in your browser's localStorage so it works the way you left it:
- Your settings: display name, mallet colour, difficulty, camera, sound, music and graphics options.
- A random guest token: a random code that lets the server recognise you when you reconnect, so you keep your seat in a game. It is not linked to who you are.
- Multiplayer preferences: your last room code and whether you prefer server or peer-to-peer rooms.
These are needed for the game to work and are not used for advertising. They stay on your device until you clear your browser's site data. We do not set cookies.
2. Analytics
To understand how the game is played and make it better, we use:
- PostHog (product analytics). It records events such as starting a match, choosing single or multiplayer, match results and errors, together with technical details like browser, device type, screen size, the page that linked to the game, whether it is embedded on another site, and an approximate location (country/city) derived from your IP address. PostHog stores nothing on your device: its anonymous identifier lives only in memory and is gone when you close the page, so separate visits aren't linked. We do not send your display name or anything that identifies you directly. Data is processed in PostHog's EU region. See PostHog's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare. The site is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to serve pages, block attacks and produce aggregate, cookieless traffic statistics. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
You can block analytics with a content blocker or by turning on your browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control setting: the game then sends no analytics at all, and works the same either way.
3. Multiplayer
- Your display name is shown to the other players in your room and, for public rooms, in the room list. Please don't use your real name or anything personal.
- Game server: our server sees your IP address while you are connected, to run the game and to limit abuse (for example, how many connections one address may open). Rooms and games live only in the server's memory and are gone when they end; we don't keep a history of your games.
- Peer-to-peer rooms connect players' browsers directly (WebRTC). In those rooms the other players' browsers can see your IP address, as with any direct connection. To set the connection up, your browser contacts public STUN servers run by Google and Cloudflare. If you prefer not to share your IP address with other players, use server rooms.
4. Embedded game
Other websites may embed the game. The site embedding it cannot read anything inside the game, including what is stored in your browser for it. Their own privacy policy covers what their page does.
Those websites are run by third parties, not by us. We don't control them and are not responsible for their content, their practices, or how they collect or use your data; this policy covers only the game itself.
5. Legal basis and sharing
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the game. We don't sell your data, and we share it only with the service providers named above, who process it for us. Some of them may process data outside your country, under their own safeguards.
6. How long we keep data
Game data on our server lasts only as long as the room or connection. Analytics data is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the game and at most according to PostHog's retention for our project. Data in your browser stays until you clear it.
7. Children
The game is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use. Because we don't know who you are, the quickest way to remove what the game keeps is to clear this site's data in your browser. For anything else, contact us below.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the game changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
